Editorial Assistant, Thought Leadership

Location: London office
Reports to: Managing Editor of Thought Leadership

Job Summary
Assist members of the editorial team to produce thought leadership programs that enable sponsors to engage a targeted executive audience with compelling research and well-written publications. The right candidate will have strong business writing and editorial skills and be proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Familiarity with global management practices and corporate strategy is a plus, as is an understanding of how to create compelling infographics.

Key Responsibilities


Editing and writing
• Proofread materials to ensure they are correct and error-free

• Assist editors in checking quotes, facts and data in reports, ensuring the quality and integrity of the analysis and properly citing all sources in line with company policy and copyright laws

• Support the editorial team in our social media efforts by updating blogs, Twitter feeds and LinkedIn accounts

Research and analysis
• Draw on Oxford Economics' suite of data and analysis to embellish thought leadership papers
• Assist editors in conducting the necessary desk research to ensure the accuracy, currency and comprehensiveness of the information in published reports

• Help to research, draft, field and analyze online surveys related to sponsored research projects

• Work on formatting and developing proposals for thought leadership projects

• Assist in building charts, graphs, dashboards and data visualizations

Editorial administration

• Maintain database of thought leadership materials

• Update schedules, traffic materials and monitor projects

• Help coordinate editorial projects with external contributors

• Put relevant thought leadership materials on our corporate website

Performance Measures
The metrics against which the editorial assistant’s performance will be assessed include:
• Quality of editorial copy and other deliverables

• Completion of assignments on time and to the appropriate level of quality

• Feedback from editorial team and clients

Skills and Capabilities

Education and training

• Bachelors degree in journalism, writing, English, History, Economics or business related subject.

Awareness and interest in business, economic and social trends


Previous work experience

• Copyediting, proofreading, writing and author-management skills

Research and data anlaysis
• Editorial administration

Skills

• Superb copyediting and proofreading skills
• Ability to manipulate and analyze data in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• Understanding of business, economics or global issues

• Knowledge of Web 2.0 and advanced analytical tools

• Strong organizational and administrative skills
