We are currently seeking a high-calibre economist for our expanding Japan macroeconomics team to be based in our Tokyo office. We offer a rewarding work environment with room for career progression and a competitive salary.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong academic education in economics – a graduate qualification is essential, postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Strong interest in practical research on macroeconomic issues relevant to corporations and financial institutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams across different offices and respect tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with EViews or other statistical software packages or programming tools preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – fluency in English and Japanese is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce in-depth analytical research on broad macroeconomic themes related to Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
  • Support the Japan team by collecting and organising data, preparing charts and tables, and producing presentations.
  • Help with regular economic forecast reports for Japan.
  • Demonstrate Oxford Economics’ products to clients and prospective clients.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
